Patterns are one of the most amazing and yet little known features of Cricut Design Space.\u00a0 Once you learn how to work with patterns your Cricut designs will be pretty much unstoppable.\u00a0 In today\u2019s tutorial, I\u2019ll show you how to edit patterns in Cricut Design Space.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Upload your pattern<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

First, you\u2019ll need to know how to upload patterns into Design Space.\u00a0 If you missed that tutorial, you can check it out here<\/a>.\u00a0 Once you have your pattern uploaded you can fill any object with a pattern.\u00a0 For this tutorial I\u2019m just going to fill a heart with a pattern but you can fill text, SVG\u2019s or shapes.\u00a0 You can use patterns to make invitations, stickers, banners, cupcake toppers, home d\u00e9cor\u2026and the list goes on and on and on.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Edit your pattern<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Step one:<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

Pull in a shape from the left side tool bar. I just used a heart.\u00a0 Go up to the top menu bar and change the shape from a cut to a print by selecting \u201cPrint\u201d in the fill box.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Step two:<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

Fill you shape with a pattern.\u00a0 To do this you\u2019ll click the color box next to the fill box in the top menu and chance from a color to a pattern. (If you don\u2019t already have a pattern you want uploaded you\u2019ll need to do that before hand.\u00a0 Watch this video<\/a> to learn how.) Cricut has a ton of patterns already included.\u00a0 Some are free and some are free with Cricut Access.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Step three:<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

Once your shape is filled with a pattern go to the bottom\nleft corner of the pattern box and click \u201cedit pattern\u201d.\u00a0 This will pull up the \u201cEdit Pattern Menu\u201d.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

  • Scale: Use scale to make the pattern larger or smaller within your shape<\/li>
  • Horizontal: Moves your pattern left and right.\u00a0 You can use the up and down arrows to nudge slightly or enter numbers in to the box for larger moves. (Negative numbers move left, positive numbers move right.)<\/li>
  • Vertical: Moves your pattern up and down. This feature works the same as horizontal.<\/li>
  • Rotate: Use rotate to rotate your pattern up to 360 degrees.\u00a0 Again, this works the same as horizontal and vertical.<\/li>
  • Flip: You can also flip your pattern upside down or from left to right.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n

    All the edits you make will be shown in a \u201cpreview\u201d on the left of the screen.\u00a0 When you have everything just the way you want, simply click the \u201cX\u201d at the top of the menu and all your edits will show in your shape in Design Space.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
