Valentine\u2019s Day was always super fun when I was in school.\u00a0 We made our own little boxes or bags for all of our friends to put cards in and we had a classroom party.\u00a0 My Mom was always totally extra when it came to cards.\u00a0 She would make something stupid crazy and I just loved it.\u00a0 Well guess what, now I go all out too! I wanted to make a Valentine Coloring Card for my niece\u2019s daycare class and now that I\u2019ve figured out how to do it, I\u2019m going to share it with you. This is one of the easiest Cricut Design Space projects I\u2019ve ever done.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

DIY Valentine Coloring Card<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Step 1:<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

Open a new project in Design Space and then click the \u201cProject\u201d tab over to the left.\u00a0 Type \u201cValentine Coloring Card\u201d into the search box and then click on the first project that pulls up.\u00a0 It should be 3 different coloring cards, a dinosaur, an owl and a whale.\u00a0 (You will need Cricut Access<\/a> for this project or if you don\u2019t have it I\u2019m sure you can just pay the 1 time fee for the file.)\u00a0 Delete all the unneeded parts of the project.\u00a0 You may have to \u201cdetach\u201d some parts of the final card.\u00a0 All you need are the little rounded coloring holder parts. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Step 2:<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

Once you have everything deleted but the crayon holder part you will need to duplicate it (Assuming you want more than 2 crayons on your card.\u00a0 If you don\u2019t then you can leave it as is). Once it is duplicated align one on top of the other and make sure the left edges are perfectly aligned. To do this just select both parts and to go \u201cAlign\u201d and then \u201cAlign Left\u201d.\u00a0 Once they are perfectly aligned, weld them together. You can leave it at 4 crayon holes or you can cut down to 3.\u00a0 To go down to 3 holes just pull in a square from the left menu bar and align it at the bottom of your crayon holes to where it covers up only 1 set of holes (see pic below).\u00a0 You may need to unlock the square to make it long enough to cover the entire set of holes.\u00a0 Next just \u201cslice\u201d the square from the coloring holes.\u00a0 This will cut off one set of holes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Make your Valentine Coloring Card<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Step 3:<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

Now it\u2019s time to make the card shape.\u00a0 To do this, go to \u201cImages\u201d on the left and type \u201cM8EEE889\u201d into the search box to pull up the tag we\u2019re using for this project.\u00a0 I like this tag because it has the scalloped edge and a hole to put the string through to make this a bookmark at the end. Insert the tag into your project and resize it to 5\u201d high by 3\u201d wide. Next go to \u201cShapes\u201d on the left and get a square.\u00a0 Unlock the square and size it to 3\u201d wide and place it next to your tag and kind of at the top (see pic below) then drag down until the bottom of your tag and the bottom of your square are even.\u00a0 You can select both the tag and square then to go \u201cAlign\u201d and \u201cAlign bottom\u201d to make sure they are exactly even at the bottom and then hit \u201cweld\u201d. Now you have the basic shape of your card.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Rotate the crayon holes if you\u2019d like (or leave them as is)\nand place them on the right side of your valentine coloring card.\u00a0 You can make them smaller if needed just\ndon\u2019t go a ton smaller.\u00a0 Once they look\nlike they are centered and in a good position you\u2019ll want to attach the card\nand the crayon holes together.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Bringing in the Coloring File<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

So once you\u2019ve got your basic shape created for your valentine coloring card you want to add the coloring elements and the words.\u00a0 For you this you can upload a coloring file you already have or you can check out this video<\/a> I made on how to turn any SVG into a coloring file<\/a>.\u00a0 This really opens the possibilities because you can literally turn any SVG at all into a coloring file to use in Design Space.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Step 4: <\/h3>\n\n\n\n

Decide which coloring file you want to use and insert it into your project.\u00a0 Size it down to fit on the left side of your card and then go up to the top menu bar and change your coloring file from a \u201cCut\u201d to a \u201cDraw\u201d. Once you have turned it do a \u201cDraw\u201d file you can drag a box around your whole project and \u201cAttach\u201d it all together.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Step 5:<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

Now you\u2019ll add your text.\u00a0 Go to \u201cText\u201d in the left menu bar and pull in your text.\u00a0 You want to make sure you\u2019re using a font that is suitable for writing.\u00a0 You can filter out the text to only show font\u2019s that have the writing style (see pic below). Once you have your text typed in make sure you change it from \u201cCut\u201d to \u201cWrite\u201d and size your text however you\u2019d like to fit it onto your card. Once everything looks good draw another box around your project and \u201cattach\u201d everything.\u00a0 That\u2019s it, you\u2019re all done.\u00a0 Just make sure that your layer\u2019s tab in the right side menu shows that your words and coloring file are to be \u201cdrawn\u201d and that your tag is to be \u201cCut\u201d.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
