Did you know you can create invitations online for free using a website called Canva? You can make any kind of invitation or greeting card you want from very basic to super detailed.\u00a0 In this tutorial I\u2019ll show you how. You will need to sign up for a free account at canva.com.\u00a0 There is also a paid version but you won\u2019t need it.\u00a0 Everything I\u2019m showing you today can be done for free so let\u2019s get started.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Step one: Sign up for a free Canva.com account<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Canva<\/a> is the most inclusive program to create invitations online for free.\u00a0 Once you have Canva pulled up click the \u201cCreate a Design\u201d tab on the left side of your screen.\u00a0 You\u2019ll see a lot of options pull up.\u00a0 Feel free to scroll through them just to see all the different awesome things you can do in Canva<\/a>.\u00a0 You\u2019ll notice they have an \u201cInvitation\u201d option but it\u2019s more if a square and that wasn\u2019t the look I was going for.\u00a0 Most invitations and greeting cards are 5X7 and that\u2019s what I wanted for mine.\u00a0 <\/p>\n\n\n\n

For this you\u2019ll select \u201cCustom Dimensions\u201d and then change\nthe \u201cpx\u201d to \u201cin\u201d then type in a 5 in the first box and a 7 in the second\nbox.\u00a0 This will give you a standard 5X7\nsize template to start creating your invitation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Step two: Choose your background<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

So I\u2019ve you\u2019re looking to create invitations online for free you probably have a theme in mind.\u00a0 One of the most appealing looks for an invitation is to have the background set to that theme.\u00a0 For my example I went with a leopard print but the options are endless because you can use digital paper for your background.\u00a0 Head over to CreativeFabrica<\/a> and search through their digital paper.\u00a0 I absolutely love Creative Fabrica and I pretty much mention them in every post because I simply couldn\u2019t do half of the things I do without them.\u00a0 You can sign up for free or you can go big time and get a subscription plan.\u00a0 I have the all access plan which allows me unlimited downloads (fonts, SVG files, Digital paper, Clip Art, Mockups\u2026) for free. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Once you have your digital paper picked out download it to your computer and then upload it into Canva.\u00a0 To do this, just click the \u201cupload\u201d icon in the left menu bar, select your paper and click okay. \u00a0It will start to upload automatically.\u00a0 When it\u2019s done, just click on it and it will transfer it over to your blank page.\u00a0 Drag the handles to make the paper big enough to cover your whole page.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Step three: Add the extras<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Now that you\u2019ve got your background it\u2019s time to add the fun\nelements.\u00a0 There are so many to choose\nfrom but the main two sections you\u2019ll want to look at are \u201cshapes\u201d and \u201cgradients\u201d.\u00a0 To get started click the \u201cElements\u201d icon in\nthe left menu bar.\u00a0 Next click on \u201cShapes\u201d\nand scroll through to see the options.\u00a0\nYou can change the color of all the shapes offered so don\u2019t worry about\nthat.\u00a0 Choose something you think will be\ngood for your invitation and click on it.\u00a0\nIt will show up on your page and you can edit it.\u00a0 Resize or rotate your shape however you\u2019d\nlike and then change the color.\u00a0 <\/p>\n\n\n\n

To change the color simply click the grey box in the top\nmenu section of Canva and choose whatever color you want.\u00a0 If they don\u2019t have the exact color you want\nclick something as similar as possible then click the \u201cNew Color\u201d box at the\ntop to tweak the color so it\u2019s just right.\u00a0\nThe gradients work the same way just with two colors instead of\none.\u00a0 Watch the video below to see how it\nall works.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
