So you\u2019ve purchased an editable template but you\u2019re not quite sure how to actually edit it. In this tutorial I\u2019ll show you how to edit a template using Canva. These instructions will work with Canva Templates or any other template that is in JPG or PNG format.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

How to edit a template using Canva<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Starting with a Template that was created in Canva and sent to you in a link as a \u201cCanva Template\u201d.<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

First, click the link you were sent to be taken to your editable design in Canva.\u00a0 You will need to login or create an account with Canva to edit your designs.\u00a0 Don\u2019t worry, it\u2019s totally free and safe to use.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Once you have logged in, click \u201cUse Template\u201d.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Your template will pull up and you are ready to start editing. You can skip the next section and jump on down to \u201cAdding Text<\/strong>\u201c.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Starting with a PNG or JPG template you downloaded and that was NOT sent to you as a Canva link<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

You\u2019re going to need Canva<\/a> for this tutorial. Canva is totally free to use and it\u2019s an online feature so you don\u2019t have to download anything to your computer. Just head over to canva.com<\/a> and sign up for a free account.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Once you have your account set up you can upload your template. Just click \u201cCreate a Design\u201d and scroll down to \u201cFlyer\u201d. Most templates will be sized to 8.5\u00d711 which is the flyer size. If you need a different size you can just select \u201cCustom dimensions\u201d and type in the size you need. (Note that the size is in \u201cpx\u201d so you\u2019ll want to change that to \u201cin\u201d for inches.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Once your blank design is open and on the screen you can upload your template. Just click the \u201cUpload\u201d icon in the far left menu and find your template. Drag the template into your design and size it to fit the page. Now you\u2019re ready to edit your template.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Adding Text:<\/h2>\n\n\n\n
  1. Click the \u201cText\u201d icon in the left menu and then select \u201cadd a little bit of body text\u201d (or for a quick command you can click on the document you want to edit and simply type \u201ct\u201d) and a text box will appear for you.\u00a0 This works the way all text boxes do.<\/li>
  2. Type in your text and then choose your font from the font menu at the top.\u00a0 You will see there are literally hundreds of fonts to choose from.\u00a0 Some are free and some are not.\u00a0 If the font has a little gold crown symbol next to it that means it\u2019s a paid font and you won\u2019t be able to use it without paying for your edits.<\/li><\/ol>\n\n\n\n
