What You Will Need<\/h2>\n\n\n\n- 3D Cake SVG File<\/a><\/li>
- Glue Dots 1\/2<\/a>\u201c<\/li>
- Glue Dots 3\/16<\/a>\u201c<\/li>
- Craft Bond Glue<\/a><\/li>
- Cricut Maker<\/a> or Explore Air<\/a><\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n
Bottom Layer Instructions<\/strong> <\/h2>\n\n\n\n- Pull the 3D cake SVG file into your program (Cricut Design Space, Silhouette Studio Designer Edition) and ungroup the 2 layers (pink layer is the base, purple layer is the lid).\u00a0<\/li>
- Resize the circles.\u00a0 DO NOT ungroup anything else before you resize the circles.\u00a0 Resize the base (pink) to 5\u201d high and 9.037\u201d wide<\/u><\/strong>.\u00a0 Resize the lid (purple) to 5.2\u201d high and 9.332\u201d wide<\/u><\/strong>.\u00a0 You can make these smaller or larger depending on your liking but make sure you keep all parts of the base together and all parts of the lid together when you resize. The lid will always need to be 0.2\u201d larger than the base.<\/li>
- Once the layers are sized you can ungroup each layer.\u00a0 Start with the lid (purple).\u00a0 Move the circles off to the side and ungroup the banding.\u00a0 Separate the banding (there will be 2 bands) and ungroup each band so you can move the decorative stripes (blue) off to the side.<\/li>
- Change the red cut lines to score lines and attach them to the band they are on top of.\u00a0 This is very important! If you do not change these to score lines your design will be cut completely and ruined.\u00a0 It is also very important to attach each score line to its coordinating band.\u00a0 (This video has a demo of how to do this in Cricut Design Space.)<\/li>
- Do the same thing for the base (pink) layer.\u00a0 Once all of the red cut lines are changed to score lines and attached to their band you are ready to cut.<\/li>
- Cut the 3D Cake SVG using cardstock of your choice.\u00a0 You WILL need a scoring tool for this project.<\/li>
- Attach the decorative stripes using glue or tape to both the lid bands and the base bands. (The stripes line up with the triangle cutouts at the bottom of the bands. See the first photo in the instructions for placement.)<\/li>
- Attach the 2 base bands (pink) together by gluing or taping the tab of one to the surface area of the other making a circle. Do the same for the lid (purple) bands.<\/li>
- Fold in all triangle cuts.<\/li>
- Put glue or tape round the edge (only around the edge, not all over) of base circle 1 and press it into the attached bands so that the triangle cutouts attach to the glue or tape on circle 1. This will create your 3D cake bottom.\u00a0 Flip the cake bottom upside down so the circle and triangle cutouts are at the top.<\/li>
- Put glue or tape all over base circle 2 and attach it to the other side of the triangle cutouts on the assembled cake bottom.\u00a0 This will cover the triangle cutouts giving your cake bottom a clean finished look.<\/li><\/ol>\n\n\n\n
Middle Layer Instructions<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n- Pull the 3D Cake SVG file into your program (Cricut Design Space, Silhouette Studio Designer Edition) and ungroup the 2 layers (yellow layer is the base, orange layer is the lid).\u00a0<\/li>
- Resize the circles.\u00a0 DO NOT ungroup anything else before you resize the circles.\u00a0 Resize the base (yellow) to 4\u201d high and 6.878\u201d wide<\/u><\/strong>.\u00a0 Resize the lid (orange) to 4.2\u201d high and 7.3\u201d wide<\/u><\/strong>.\u00a0 You can make these smaller or larger depending on your liking but make sure you keep all parts of the base together and all parts of the lid together when you resize. The lid will always need to be 0.2\u201d larger than the base.<\/li>
- Once the layers are sized you can ungroup each layer.\u00a0 Start with the lid (orange).\u00a0 Move the circles off to the side and ungroup the banding.\u00a0 Separate the banding (there will be 2 bands).<\/li>
- Follow steps 4-11 the same as you did for the base layer of your 3D Cake Boxes.<\/li><\/ol>\n\n\n\n

Bottom Layer Instructions<\/strong> <\/h2>\n\n\n\n- Pull the 3D cake SVG file into your program (Cricut Design Space, Silhouette Studio Designer Edition) and ungroup the 2 layers (pink layer is the base, purple layer is the lid).\u00a0<\/li>
- Resize the circles.\u00a0 DO NOT ungroup anything else before you resize the circles.\u00a0 Resize the base (pink) to 5\u201d high and 9.037\u201d wide<\/u><\/strong>.\u00a0 Resize the lid (purple) to 5.2\u201d high and 9.332\u201d wide<\/u><\/strong>.\u00a0 You can make these smaller or larger depending on your liking but make sure you keep all parts of the base together and all parts of the lid together when you resize. The lid will always need to be 0.2\u201d larger than the base.<\/li>
- Once the layers are sized you can ungroup each layer.\u00a0 Start with the lid (purple).\u00a0 Move the circles off to the side and ungroup the banding.\u00a0 Separate the banding (there will be 2 bands) and ungroup each band so you can move the decorative stripes (blue) off to the side.<\/li>
- Change the red cut lines to score lines and attach them to the band they are on top of.\u00a0 This is very important! If you do not change these to score lines your design will be cut completely and ruined.\u00a0 It is also very important to attach each score line to its coordinating band.\u00a0 (This video has a demo of how to do this in Cricut Design Space.)<\/li>
- Do the same thing for the base (pink) layer.\u00a0 Once all of the red cut lines are changed to score lines and attached to their band you are ready to cut.<\/li>
- Cut the 3D Cake SVG using cardstock of your choice.\u00a0 You WILL need a scoring tool for this project.<\/li>
- Attach the decorative stripes using glue or tape to both the lid bands and the base bands. (The stripes line up with the triangle cutouts at the bottom of the bands. See the first photo in the instructions for placement.)<\/li>
- Attach the 2 base bands (pink) together by gluing or taping the tab of one to the surface area of the other making a circle. Do the same for the lid (purple) bands.<\/li>
- Fold in all triangle cuts.<\/li>
- Put glue or tape round the edge (only around the edge, not all over) of base circle 1 and press it into the attached bands so that the triangle cutouts attach to the glue or tape on circle 1. This will create your 3D cake bottom.\u00a0 Flip the cake bottom upside down so the circle and triangle cutouts are at the top.<\/li>
- Put glue or tape all over base circle 2 and attach it to the other side of the triangle cutouts on the assembled cake bottom.\u00a0 This will cover the triangle cutouts giving your cake bottom a clean finished look.<\/li><\/ol>\n\n\n\n
Middle Layer Instructions<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n- Pull the 3D Cake SVG file into your program (Cricut Design Space, Silhouette Studio Designer Edition) and ungroup the 2 layers (yellow layer is the base, orange layer is the lid).\u00a0<\/li>
- Resize the circles.\u00a0 DO NOT ungroup anything else before you resize the circles.\u00a0 Resize the base (yellow) to 4\u201d high and 6.878\u201d wide<\/u><\/strong>.\u00a0 Resize the lid (orange) to 4.2\u201d high and 7.3\u201d wide<\/u><\/strong>.\u00a0 You can make these smaller or larger depending on your liking but make sure you keep all parts of the base together and all parts of the lid together when you resize. Middle Layer Instructions<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n- Pull the 3D Cake SVG file into your program (Cricut Design Space, Silhouette Studio Designer Edition) and ungroup the 2 layers (yellow layer is the base, orange layer is the lid).\u00a0<\/li>
- Resize the circles.\u00a0 DO NOT ungroup anything else before you resize the circles.\u00a0 Resize the base (yellow) to 4\u201d high and 6.878\u201d wide<\/u><\/strong>.\u00a0 Resize the lid (orange) to 4.2\u201d high and 7.3\u201d wide<\/u><\/strong>.\u00a0 You can make these smaller or larger depending on your liking but make sure you keep all parts of the base together and all parts of the lid together when you resize. The lid will always need to be 0.2\u201d larger than the base.<\/li>
