There are some really handy tools in Cricut Design Space and knowing how to use them makes a world of difference when designing and editing images. Today I want to go over some of those tools with you.<\/p>\n

Weld<\/h2>\n

Use the welding tool in Cricut Design Space when joining together 2 or more items. For instance if I want to make Mickey Mouse I\u2019m going to make a large circle on the bottom and 2 smaller circles on the top. Those 3 circles are nothing until I weld them together. Once they\u2019re welded I have the Mickey Mouse Face.<\/p>\n

The image on the left is not welded together and the image on the right is welded.<\/p>\n

Slice<\/h2>\n

Use the slice tool in Cricut Design Space when you want to cut something apart. Slicing is common when making split letters or when removing negative space from a design. It can also be used to make split monograms and letters.<\/p>\n

The image on the left is 2 circles of different size placed one on top of the other. The image on the right is the smaller circle sliced out of the larger circle leaving the hollow circle. This is a common monogram border.<\/p>\n

Contour<\/h2>\n

Use the contour tool in Cricut Design Space to remove small pieces from an image that you don\u2019t want. On the example below you\u2019ll see 2 tree branches with leaves. The top image is unedited. The bottom image has most of the leaves contoured out.<\/p>\n
