To fill text with a pattern or image, we\u2019re going to use Canva frames. Canva is a powerful tool for designing everything from social media posts to presentations, and one of the coolest features it offers is the ability to use frames in your designs. Frames allow you to easily insert images or patterns and create stunning visual effects. In this post, we\u2019ll walk you through how to fill text with a pattern using a frame in Canva.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

What Are Canva Frames?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Frames in Canva are special containers that help you organize and shape images and other elements. Instead of manually cropping or resizing your images to fit a specific shape, you can drop them into a frame, and Canva will automatically adjust them. Frames are useful for creating polished designs quickly and with ease.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Step-by-Step Guide to Fill Text with a Pattern or Image<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

1. Create a New Design or Open an Existing One<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u2013 First, open Canva and start a new project by clicking on the \u201cCreate a design\u201d button.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u2013 Choose the type of design you want (e.g., Instagram post, presentation, flyer, etc.) or select one of your existing projects if you want to work with a design you\u2019ve already started.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

2. Add a Frame to Your Design<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u2013 To insert a frame, navigate to the \u201cElements\u201d tab on the left-hand side.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u2013 Scroll down and find the \u201cFrames\u201d section, or search \u201cFrames\u201d in the search bar.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u2013 Select the frame shape you want to use. Canva has a variety of frame shapes like circles, squares, hearts, and even custom shapes. Click on the one you like, and it will be added to your design. For this tutorial we\u2019re using letters so we can fill the text with a pattern.\u00a0 I searched for each letter individually. For example I put \u201c E frame\u201d into the search to pull up a frame in the shape of the letter E.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

3. Find a Pattern to Use<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u2013 Next, you\u2019ll need to find a pattern that suits your design. To do this, go to the \u201cPhotos\u201d or \u201cElements\u201d tab.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u2013 In the search bar, type keywords like \u201cpattern,\u201d \u201cgeometric pattern,\u201d \u201cfloral pattern,\u201d \u201ctextured background,\u201d or any other term related to the style you\u2019re looking for.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u2013 You can also use the Backgrounds tab to find pre-made patterns that might work well for your frame.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u2013 I used digital paper from Creative Fabrica<\/a> in the video tutorial. I also pulled elements out of the digital paper to add them to the design. Check out the video to see exactly how I did that.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
