Do you love Cricut Projects? Me too! I use my Cricut for something almost every day. I love that I can create just about anything imaginable with perfect precision and it always comes out simply adorable because, well, my Cricut cut it.<\/p>\n

Easter is coming right up and I wanted to finish off my mantel with a custom wood sign. I saw so many cute Easter signs on Pinterest and Etsy but I knew I could make one of my own using my Cricut for a lot less than the prices I was seeing online.\u00a0 I made this one in about 15 minutes and for only around $7.<\/p>\n

I checked out the online Easter Cricut Projects first to see if they had any pre-made designs I liked.\u00a0 They did have one but it was an Easter Egg and I really wanted a bunny so\u2026I made my own.\u00a0 Just browse through the Cricut Projects, Etsy or Pinterest and find a design you like. Here\u2019s everything you\u2019ll need:<\/h2>\n
\n
Wood sign (I got mine at WalMart for $5)<\/li>\n
Adhesive vinyl (any vinyl will do but try to avoid permanent outdoor vinyl)<\/li>\n
Stencil\u00a0design of your choice (SVG or create your own in Design Space)<\/li>\n
Transfer tape<\/li>\n
Weeding tool<\/li>\n
Scraping tool<\/li>\n
Chalk paint<\/li>\n
Foam brushes<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n
<\/iframe><\/span><\/p>\n<h2>Here\u2019s how you\u2019ll make it:<\/h2>\n<ol>\n<li>Cut the stencil\u00a0using your Cricut and the SVG or design of your choice.<\/li>\n<li>Weed your stencil.<\/li>\n<li>Place the transfer tape onto the design.<\/li>\n<li>Transfer the stencil\u00a0onto the wood sign using the transfer tape. (The vinyl will not stick well to the wood. Go slow and take your time. Make sure you get all your little pieces off of the transfer tape and onto the wood. It does NOT have to be perfectly adhered because you can go back and press each section as you paint.)<\/li>\n<li>Get a small amount of chalk paint on your foam brush and start applying paint to the sign. Cover the entire design in a light layer of paint. Make sure you are pulling away from the edges of your stencil. Always pull down and away from the stencil. If you pull the brush up and into the stencil\u00a0you will get paint under your stencil. Work your way through the whole design going slow and making sure to press down each piece of stencil\u00a0as you go so that there are no gaps between the stencil\u00a0and the wood.<\/li>\n<li>Once you have your first light layer you can go back and apply more paint to get it to the color of your liking. The stencil\u00a0will be better adhered to the wood once you get your first layer on and it will not be as critical to go so slow and press down each piece.<\/li>\n<li>Once you have applied as many layers of paint as you\u2019d like (I just did 2) peel of the stencil\u00a0while the paint is still wet.<\/li>\n<li>Use your weeding tool to remove any small pieces of stencil\u00a0that are left on your design.<\/li>\n<li>Let it dry and it\u2019s ready to be the centerpiece of your Easter d\u00e9cor.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<h2>And you\u2019re done<\/h2>\n<p>So that\u2019s it guys. With just a few materials and about 15 minutes you can create your own custom wood sign. Get creative and show me what you\u2019ve made.
