You can make this DIY Christmas Countdown Chalkboard at home in less than 10 minutes. It’s super simple and it’s the perfect addition to any Christmas décor. I keep a chalk marker on the easel and my son LOVES writing in the countdown every morning.

You can use any chalkboard you want however I am IN LOVE with this one.
- Countdown Design
If you have a Cricut (or any other cutter) you can purchase my SVG here.
If you don’t have a Cricut (Ummm…go get one stat! It’s seriously life changing!) you can purchase the decal from my online shop.
Really any kind of countdown design will work great. You can look around and find several online. You could also drawn on your own design with the chalk markers however when you go to erase the date every day you run the risk of erasing your design too.
- Chalk or chalk markers
- Transfer tape (I use Contact Paper)
- Scissors
How to make your DIY Christmas Countdown Chalkboard
You’ll start by applying the decals. (If you don’t know how to apply a decal check out this tutorial) My decals come in 5 separate pieces. You will apply them in this order:
1: White Ornament
2: Green Leaves
3: Red Bow
4: Red Berries
5: White Wording
You can measure from top to bottom and from right to left to get the design centered just right or you can eyeball it. It’s pretty easy to align once you have the ornament put in place. Check out the video above to see how it all comes together.

After you have your decal in place simply use your chalk or chalk marker and write in how many days are left until Christmas. Hang your chalk board or fold out the legs and place it on a table top. That’s it…you’re all done. Easy peasy and super cute!
