How to Add Tails to Text in Cricut Design Space
First of all you’re going to need a font manager to unlock all the special features of your font. They’re already there you just have to unlock them. My favorite font manager is FontCloud from Creative Fabrica. I love this one because first of all…IT’S FREE! And second of all it has a ton of functionality that most free font managers don’t have.
FontCloud allows you to store thousands of fonts directly in the cloud so you don’t have to take up space on your phone or computer with all those fonts. It also allows you to quickly and easily preview how your text will look in every different font you have. So before moving on, go get FontCloud. Again, it’s totally free. You just have to sign up for a free account.
Now that you have FontCloud
Now that you have FontCloud you can add tails to text in Cricut Design Space. First you’ll want to upload some of your fonts into FontCloud. The video above will show you exactly how to do that and I’ve also added a few photos below to show you how.

Next just select the font you want to use and scroll through the characters until you start seeing some letters with blue boxes around them. These are your PUA (private use area) characters. These are all the fancy tails and swashes that came with your font but were locked up in the PUA area. See, all you needed was a font manager to unlock them.
Putting it to use
To add tails to text in Cricut Design Space simply click the tail you want and it will copy to your desktop. Then head over to design space and paste (Ctrl+V) the tail into your text box. Again, the video above will show you exactly how and I’ve added a few pictures below.

You can add as many different fancy elements as you’d like. Creative Fabrica is also a fabulous place to download fonts. They have over well over 20k fonts to choose from and they all come with a commercial license. Every week they have a new free font available and there are always super affordable bundle deals and fonts as low as $1.
That’s something you don’t get with free fonts from sites like Dafont.com. Did you know you legally can’t sell anything you make with one of those free fonts!? You don’t have to worry about that with fonts from Creative Fabrica. They all have a full commercial license. And if you sign up for a paid font membership (only $19/mo) you can download all the fonts you want FOR FREE. Yep that’s right. All the fonts your little heart desires with full commercial use for free if you subscribe to the $19/mo font plan.
Okay well that’s enough listening to me talk about how awesome Creative Fabrica is. Go check out that free FontCloud and see for yourself. You will absolutely love it.
