How to Make Pen Wraps

Learn how to make pen wraps on your own in just a few simple steps.  Epoxy pens seem to be a huge thing right now and pen wraps are becoming more and more popular. Did you know that you can design your own pen wraps totally free in a simple to use program called Canva? Well, you can and I’ll show you how.

This post contains affiliate links. This just means if you purchase something by clicking one of my links I may receive a small commission at no cost to you.

What you’ll need

In order to make pen wraps in Canva you’ll need to sign up for a free Canva account.  Simply click here to sign up.  Canva is a web based design service that allows you to created so many different things I couldn’t even begin to tell you all of them.  There is a paid version, but for this project you can just use the free version and it will have everything you need.

The other thing you’ll need to make pen wraps is some digital paper.  In the tutorial I’m using a sunflower paper.  If you like it, you can purchase it by clicking here.  I get all of my digital paper from Creative Fabrica.  I have the all access membership so I can download unlimited files for free. It really pays off since I download probably 50 files a month. Find some digital paper you love and download it to your computer.

How to make pen wraps

Okay, now that you have Canva and some digital paper, let’s get started.  Open Canva and click “Create a Design” in the top right corner; now type in “letter” in the search box.  Click “letter” from the dropdown and this will give you a standard size paper. This is exactly what we want since you’ll be printing your pen wraps on either waterslide paper, sublimation paper or printable vinyl all of which is the standard printer paper size.

Once your paper appears on the screen you’ll want to upload your digital paper. Click “Uploads” in the left side menu and then click the “Upload Media” bar.  Since you saved your digital paper on your computer you’ll want to click “Device” and then locate and upload your digital paper.  You’ll see it appear in the upload section right below the “Upload Media” bar.

Size your design

Drag and drop one of your digital papers onto your project paper.  Use the handles to size the digital paper to 1.5” by 4.8”.  This is the most common size used to make pen wraps.  Some pens may be larger or smaller.  If you want to get really specific you can measure your pen and the size accordingly.

Do the same thing with your other digital papers and play around some with the handles to get different looks from your paper.  The video above shows how to do this.  Add in some text if you’d like and put as many pen wraps as you can on one page.  When you’re done designing simply download your paper and print on waterslide paper, sublimation paper or printable vinyl.
