How to Thicken Font in Cricut Design Space

Wanting to know how to thicken font in Cricut Design Space? When you thicken your font it will not only cut better, it will weed easier and stick better to your final project.  I have a really easy way to thicken font in Cricut Design Space. This will make your crafting life so much easier.

In my example I’m going to be using Samantha Font by Laura Worthington.  This is one of the most popular fonts out there but it has some really fine lines that need to be thickened before you cut them.  I’ve got you covered though…just follow the steps below to thicken font in Cricut Design Space.

Follow These Steps

First type in your word or phrase and weld it.  Sometimes welding may not be necessary. However, it’s a good idea to get in the habit of always welding just in case.  For this example I had to weld so that the fancy “n” didn’t cut into the “k” where it crosses over.

Next, with your word or phrase selected, go up to “offset” and set it to 0.05 and make sure the corners are rounded then click “apply”.  You’ll see the offset appear in black around your word or phrase.  If this looks right to you, move on to the next step.  If you feel like it’s too thick or not thick enough simply adjust the amount of offset.  Bump it up to 0.06 or 0.07 to make it thicker or down to 0.04 or 0.03 to make it thinner.

Once you have the offset where you want it you’ll need to weld the offset and your original word or phrase together. Simply drag a box around both objects (the offset and your original word or phrase) and click “weld”.

Now that your font is thickened

That’s all there is too it. Just like that you can thicken font in Cricut Design space in under a minute. Did you like the Samantha Font I used in the tutorial? You can get it from Creative Fabrica.  When I first got this font I didn’t have a subscription to Creative Fabrica so I had to get it directly from Laura Worthington’s site. I paid $75 for it.  Yep, that’s right $75! But now that Creative Fabrica carries the font you can get it for just $17 without a subscription.  Of course, if you’d like to sign up for a subscription I have a special offer for you.  Get an all access subscription (this allows you unlimited downloads of anything Creative Fabrica has to offer all with a commercial license) for just $1 for your first month and then $19/month after that.  This will give you the amazing Samantha Font for just $1!

Now back when I got the font, years ago, this was my only option.  Once Laura saw how wildly popular her font was with crafters and realized it was super skinny and we had to thicken it to use it, she made a new font called Samantha Craft.  The Samantha Craft font is already thickened so you don’t have to do any extra work.  The Samantha Craft font is also just $17 without a subscription or free with a subscription.

Learn to use Samantha Font

This font literally has hundreds of extras and can be a bit overwhelming.  Here’s tutorial on how to use it in Cricut Design Space so it’s not so overwhelming.
