If you’ve ever purchased one of my Canva frames or wondered how to add text to a pennant flag, this tutorial is for you. One of the questions I get asked most often is: “How do you put the text in your pennant flags in Canva?“ Today I’m sharing my secret with you!

In this step by step guide, I’ll show you the exact method I use to create custom pennant flag designs in Canva. You’ll learn how to install the correct font, position each letter individually, and finish your design with text effects that really make it stand out.

What You’ll Need

Before you get started, there are two things you’ll need:

  • A Canva Pro account
  • The Quarantine and Chill font from Creative Fabrica

I’ll walk you through how to get the font, install it into Canva, and use it inside your designs.

Watch the full tutorial below to follow along.

Step 1: Install Your Font in Canva

The first step is installing the Quarantine and Chill font.

In this section of the tutorial, I show you how to:

  • Download the font
  • Upload it into Canva
  • Access it in your Brand Kit
  • Get everything ready for your design

Once it’s installed, you’re ready to begin creating your pennant.

Step 2: Add Text to a Pennant Flag

This is where the magic happens.

Instead of typing your entire word into one text box, I show you how to:

  • Add one letter at a time
  • Position each letter individually
  • Resize every letter independently
  • Create a perfectly balanced pennant flag

This gives you much more flexibility and allows the text to follow the natural shape of the flag.

Step 3: Make Your Design Pop

Once your lettering is finished, it’s time to polish the design.

In the tutorial, I demonstrate several Canva text effects, including:

  • Drop shadows
  • Thin outline layers
  • Additional styling options
  • Simple finishing touches that make the design stand out

These effects help create a more dimensional, professional looking finished product.

Featured Canva Frames

Throughout this tutorial, I demonstrate this technique using four of my Canva pennant flag frames.

Once you understand the process, you’ll be able to customize each one with your own names, words, colors, and themes.

It’s an easy way to create unique designs while keeping everything clean and professional.
